Life on a Cocoa Farm

A Day in the Life

All around the world, cocoa is grown on small family farms in tropical areas. Most of the world's supply comes from a few West African nations, such as the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.

Cocoa growing is similar the world over. The farmers tend their cocoa trees, which produce oval-shaped fruit about 8-10 inches long.

Cocoa beans, which are the main ingredient in chocolate, are actually the seeds inside the fruit of the cocoa tree.
